Laser Hair Removal

E-Light  Permanent  Hair  Reduction

This is a technology combining Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) with Radio Frequency (RF). This advanced combination proves effective even in cases where other systems fail.

With this technology, clients can enjoy the results they desire  regardless of the color of their hair or skin type.

How  E-Light  Works

RF technology reaches the middle and deeper layers of the skin by heating the tissue. This allows for less energy needed to be applied during the IPL treatment, leading to greater results obtained with a reduced number of sessions. The energy generated by the E -LIGHT is transformed into heat that permanently burns the hair follicle, yet does not affect the rest of the cutaneous structures. Also, the cooling system provided by the laser minimizes any type of discomfort.

How is the E-Light system different from other laser systems?

  • The E-Light system is the only system that can rejuvenate the skin and get rid  of the "Peach Fuzz" (tiny white and blonde hairs) that other lasers miss.

  • The E-Light system uses optical energy to heat the hair shaft, combined with  radio frequency, which heats and coagulates the follicle itself. The radio frequency is safer because it is not affected by skin color.

  • The E-Light technology is also wonderful for rejuvenating the skin of the face, neck, chest and arms.

Benefits of the E-Light laser

Using a combination of IPL and RF as described above, hair loss can be seen even after the very first session. The treatment acts on the hairs that are currently in the growth phase (anagen stage), which will typically fall out in the days to weeks following treatment. Other hairs not in the growth stage continue to grow normally, but will be affected on subsequent sessions. Eventually, after a small number of treatments, there will be no more visible hairs remaining.

An important advantage that E-LIGHT hair removal technology has over traditional laser is that it is the only method that is effective for blond, brown and dark hair. All skin types work as well: white, dark, mature or sensitive.

How many sessions are required to see results ?

The process only works during the hair’s growth cycle, so the procedure is often done multiple times. You may have great results after three treatments, or it sometimes takes as many as nine or more.

The number of E-LIGHT hair removal sessions depends on the type of hair, the density, the method you were using to shave, the area to be treated, the sensitivity of your skin and the response of your body to the treatment. Clients with lighter hair will expect to undergo more treatments than the standard treatment numbers for darker hair.

Treatment needs can vary because the laser targets melanin, or dark pigment, in the hair follicles. The darker your skin is, the harder it is to distinguish between the skin color and the pigment in the follicles. You can still get good results, but it may take more treatments. If you have light skin and dark hair, you will likely get good results after just a few treatments.

Our therapists will advise you on the frequency of treatments throughout your sessions. In facial areas, we recommend to perform the sessions every 20 to 30 days, and other body areas every 4 weeks. E-LIGHT technology can treat virtually the entire body.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to do prior to my treatment?

It’s a good idea to stay out of the sun as much as possible before the procedure.

Ultraviolet light stimulates melanocytes, which create more melanin in the skin. This makes it harder for the laser to distinguish between the skin and follicles, which also makes the treatment more challenging.

“You need to be as pale as possible and tanning beds are definitely a no-no,”

  • Avoid waxing or depilatories as they pull the hair out of the follicle, leaving no target for the laser.

  • Avoid chemical peels on treated areas

  • Shave your hair one day before your appointment

  • Do not fake tan your skin or sunbathe

  • Make sure your skin is intact without contagious skin conditions (such as herpes, or cold sore)

Is  it  safe / Does the laser emit radiation?

ELIGHT is the most advanced treatment for treating light and fine hair. ELIGHT treatments provide safe and effective permanent hair reduction.

No, The word “laser” stands for “light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation,” but it’s not like an X-ray. The treatment simply uses light and heat..

Will my hair ever grow back?

Actively growing hair that's been treated with ELIGHT should not grow back. Once a hair follicle is damaged, it cannot grow hair. However, hair follicles that were not in the active growth phase, will need to be treated. It’s also not unusual for some patients to have a touch-up two years after initial treatment due to hormonal changes.

Do I need to arrange time off from work after my treatment?

ELIGHT treatments have no “down time” and requires no recovery time. You can have a treatment and return to work and other normal activities immediately.

Why do I need so many sessions?

Hair growth occurs in 4 stages: Early Anagen (early hair growth), Anagen (active hair growth), Catagen (regression) and Telogen (resting, not growing). Laser hair removal only affects the Anagen stage (actively growing hair). Therefore, approximately twenty-five-percent of hair removed with each treatment. A few treatments are therefore required for the treatment area to be hair free.

What are the aftercare steps?

  • It’s important that you do not tweeze or wax any hair on the area that was treated. By doing so, you will disrupt the treatment process which may lead to potential stimulation of the hair follicle, in other words you could potentially spark regrowth.

  • Exfoliate the area once any redness subsides, approximately one to two weeks after your laser hair removal appointment.

  • Avoid extremely hot showers or baths for at least 48 hours after the treatment.

  • Avoid wearing tight clothing for the first 3 days

  • If discolouration / pigmentation occurs in the treated area, apply vitamin E to encourage soothing of the skin.

  • Avoid direct sunlight for at least two to four weeks after the treatment.

  • If you have undergone laser hair removal in a facial area, mineral makeup may be applied within the first 48 hours, but other cosmetics should be avoided until the skin has had time to heal.

  • Keep away from deodorants for at least three days to avoid causing irritation.

  • It’s important not the scratch the affected area. Scratching or causing a scab to arise may result in scarring.

  • Give your body 24-48 hours rest from excessive exercise, the gym or the sauna – these can all cause irritation.
